The A465 Heads of the Valleys between Brynmawr and Gilwern has finally been fully opened and all the cones have been moved on.
After living on the road for several years the hundreds of cones that lined the route have been moved out and forced onto an undisclosed new site.
It is understood that the cones were bundled on to the back of a lorry in the dead of night with many being separated from their neighbours and colleagues. The cones had formed a close bond during their time together and it is not know if they have been split up or rehomed together.
Work to complete the dualling of the A465 Heads of the Valleys has been ongoing since 2014 with disruption being caused to drivers, surrounding residents and businesses in the area.
With some communities being cut off from direct routes to or others being swamped in diverted traffic, during the works, it will be a welcome relief to see normality return.
