We are so lucky to have some great places to explore around Monmouthshire and just over the borders.
A glorious walk high above Tintern leaves you with spectacular views over Tintern Abbey and the River Wye, from the stunning Devil's Pulpit. ☀️ 🏞️
Legend has it the devil preached to the monks below, tempting them to desert their order.
The walk has a moderate climb but certainly worth the effect when you get to the top. Once you get to the top you will be rewarded with views across the treetops to Monmouthshire, the River Wye and Tintern Abbey.
Starting off in Tintern, cross the old Wireworks Bridge, which is situated just over from Abbey Mill, and just follow the path around to the old railway line.
Once you get on to the old railway line, it isn't far before you see a signpost on your left taking you the climb up towards the Devil's Pulpit. From there it is a circular route up the hill through stunning woodland, following the ancient Offa's Dyke until you reach the Devil's Pulpit viewpoint. The round trip is about 3 miles in total.
